Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava, Slovakia - 2022 Danube River cruise. Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and its largest city with a population estimated to be more than 660,000. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Slovakia with several universities, museums, galleries and large businesses and financial institutions. Bratislava is on the Danube River in south western Slovakia and is squeezed between both Austria and Hungary. Like many cities along the Danube River it was inhabited in prehistoric times and occupied by the Celts, Romans and others but not the Ottoman Turks and it was the Hungarian capital from 1526 until 1784. We spent the morning walking around the reconstructed 18th century “old town” area.
